The Institute for Nuclear and Energy Technologies (IKET) is situated on Campus North of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Today, our research projects cover applied long-term investigations related to both nuclear and conventional power technologies, but also basic research activities which are well recognized within the scientific community. Our objectives are the analysis and prediction of complex thermohydraulic phenomena, including chemical reactions or magnetic fields, and transport analyses of gases, liquids, and solids. Our diverse expertise covers the theory, numerics, and experiments for flows of melt and liquid metals, combustion and explosions as well as flows in microsystems. Our tasks are performed within the programs of “Nuclear Safety Research”, “Nuclear Fusion”, "Renewable Energies”, and "Efficient Energy Conversion and Use” of the Helmholtz Association.
IKET is member of the KIT Energy Centre and contributes to education and training of the KIT departments of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering, as well as Chemistry and Biosciences.
