Hydrogen fuel cells are seen as a potential energy supply for a post-fossile aera. Compared to the well-known hydro-corbons, hydrogen has very different safety relevant properties that require new hydrogen specific safety analyses. The current work aims at the development of a mechanistic understanding and of a complete modelling procedure to
- predict accident process and consequences,
- develop efficient mitigation measures,
- support the development of safe hydrogen technologies, and
- to provide reliable data for new safety codes and standards.
